Why use badger fat?

Badger fat is a product with many useful qualities. Alongside its anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties, it gently strengthens the whole body. Badger fat can be used both internally and externally. Taken internally it is a wonderful companion when we have inflammatory and infectious conditions of the lungs and airways, such as pneumonia, bronchitis, tuberculosis, asthma or inflammation of the bronchi; this is how it has traditionally been used. It can be taken internally and at the same time used externally in the form of compresses on the chest. With a heavy cold or with conditions of the lungs and bronchi, the traditional method is a compress – the area of the lungs and bronchi is rubbed with badger fat, or a linen cloth, a piece of gauze, a bandage or another non-absorbent material is soaked in badger fat and laid on the chosen place, covered with a sheet of plastic and kept warm with a second, warmed layer of cloths or bandages.

Badger fat and immunity

It is also traditionally said to support weakened immunity, to help lung tissue recover and to make breathing easier. Badger fat is very much valued with a cold, a runny nose and a sore throat too. If you have caught a cold and your nose is blocked, apply the fat under your nostrils and breathe in. With a sore throat, add a teaspoon to warm – not hot – tea and sip slowly. You can also make a warming wrap on the neck and keep it warm. It is a lovely choice for our little ones as well, because it is purely natural and there is no need to worry about side effects.

Badger fat and the joints

The second place where we can truly make use of the strength of badger fat is the musculoskeletal system. Since time immemorial it has been used with back pain, rheumatism, stiff muscles, aching joints, a twinge in the lower back or the neck, and with various sprains, bruises and contusions. Rub this little wonder in a thin layer into the affected places 3-4 times a day and you will feel relief. It is traditionally reached for with an exhausted body, with stomach and intestinal ulcers, colitis, gastritis and pancreatitis too. It has found its use not only in traditional care but also in cosmetics, in the care of cellulite or as a natural ingredient in the care of wrinkles. It is certainly worth keeping badger fat at home, always close at hand, don't you think?
